Panalife 120 mg/5 mL Paediatric Syrup contains paracetamol which is a clinically proven time tested drug known for its potent and rapid analgesic and antipyretic actions. It relieves pain by elevating the pain threshold centrally and peripherally by prostaglandin synthesis inhibition. The antipyretic action is due to its effect on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center. Paracetamol is rapidly absorbed from gastro-intestinal tract with peak plasma concentration occurring about 10 to 60 minutes after oral administration. It is metabolized predominantly in the liver and excreted mainly through urine. It is considered the pain reliever and fever reducer of choice specially in patients in whom NSAIDs or Salicylates, such as Aspirin, are contraindicated. Such patients include asthmatics, those with history of peptic ulcer, children or elderly.
